Food Team
The Food team worked and researched extensively to uncover and create data from the limited research on emissions from food in the City of Atlanta. Jocelyn Blanchette, Andrew McGraw, and Janelle Wright quantified the impacts that food processes have on Atlanta’s greenhouse gas emissions. Because the effects of food processes are not reported within the Global Protocol Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GPSSGGI) BASIC and BASIC+ framework, the food team utilized the Drawdown Georgia framework to create a greenhouse gas emissions inventory. We do this by scaling the system’s processes, existing food recovery opportunities, and identifying solutions that account for the social, economic, and ecological implications of food systems and food insecurity.
